The 16th Clean Energy Ministerial and 10th Mission Innovation meeting (CEM16/MI-10) took place from 25th to 27th August 2025 in Busan, Republic of Korea and focused on strengthening international cooperation and accelerating the global clean energy transition.
The IRENA Regional Model Analysis & Planning Support Programme aims to build and enhance technical capacity in ten EAPP countries, with participation from ministries responsible for energy, electric utilities, and specialised planning agencies.
Through training activities on energy modelling and the process of developing and updating national energy scenarios as direct inputs into national energy master plans, IRENA and its expert partners guide country teams with customised technical support, on-demand advisory services and draft output reviews.
IRENA's LTES Network has brought together experts from around the world to exchange experiences and good practices regarding the development and use of long-term energy scenarios that support the clean energy transition. The LTES Network facilitates a global platform to foster dialogues with the key players in governments to accelerate the clean energy transition.
IRENA will co-host this event organized by the Energy Modelling Hub, a Canadian network uniting energy modellers, policymakers, and experts to transform Canada’s energy systems.
The 15th Clean Energy Ministerial and 9th Mission Innovation meeting (CEM15/MI-9) will take place from 30th September to 3rd October in Foz do Iguaçu, Brazil and focus on various aspects of the clean energy transition.
The workshop focus was on completing the programme deliverables – complete model with 12 investment scenarios; full masterplan-style summary report; and executive summary document – and officially closing the work with the national team and steering committee.
The Forum will focus on alignment between energy and climate planning, the role of scenario planning for de-risking investment for the clean energy transition, scenario communication, lifestyle changes, energy security, and hydrogen integration.
