The International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), in cooperation with the East Africa Centre of Excellence for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (EACREEE) will provide a three-day training on off-grid renewable energy to improve the availability of reliable information on renewable energy in the East Africa region.

The workshop focus was on completing the programme deliverables – complete model with 12 investment scenarios; full masterplan-style summary report; and executive summary document – and officially closing the work with the national team and steering committee.

The training course focus was on deepening expertise in modelling with the SPLAT-SN model, including updating the model, implementing scenarios to be analysed, and investigating model results.

The International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) and the SDG 7 Youth Constituency collaborated to promote skills and knowledge building for youth to become effective agents for change in their communities through a virtual training on energy system modeling for young energy planning practitioners, students and engineers.

The capacity building event was expected to contribute to the improvement of PPAs in the Atlantic, Indian Ocean, South China Sea (AIS) region.

This two day webinar which targeted homeowners, students, youth and other participants, aimed to provide an introduction to energy conservation and management with a focus on the conduct of home energy assessments.

This event was the fourth segment of Grenada’s Capacity Building Programme which aimed to strengthen the capacity of relevant stakeholders to conduct energy audits to better understand and manage energy consumption.

The capacity building workshop was a national level, 2-days training that covered the theoretical aspect of climate investments and flows as well as the approaches and practices adopted to track and report these investments and financial flows.

The training for Eastern Europe and Central Asia, provided a basic training on the IRENA FlexTool in the context of the ongoing initiatives in this region.

IRENA provided a training on the IRENA FlexTool to all the interested stakeholders from the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.

The IRENA FlexTool training for Latin America, offered basic training on the IRENA FlexTool in the context of ongoing projects in the region. Training was for all the interested stakeholders from the Latin American region.

The capacity building event contributed to the improvement of PPAs (Power Purchase Agreements) in the region and enhanced the capability of local utilities and regulators to design bankable contracts, with the final goal of contributing to effective commitment of private capital to the deployment of renewable energy projects in SIDS of the Pacific.

With a view to supporting the efforts of the countries of Latin America in undertaking the transformation of their energy sector, IRENA and the Ministry of Environment and Energy of Costa Rica co-organised a regional workshop to exchange lessons learned and best practices in the development and implementation of decarbonisation strategies driven by renewable energy, energy efficiency and electrification.

Organised within the framework of IRENA’s Regional Initiative in South East Europe, the workshop aimed to enhance local capacities in developing renewable energy projects, including with regards to improving conditions for financing projects.
