This side-event at the Global SDG 7 Conference in Bangkok, marked the regional launch of IRENA's Southeast Asia Market Analysis, and presented its findings. A panel discussed measures to scale renewable energy deployment to meet national and regional goals, and targets associated with SDG 7.
The Sierra Leone Ministry of Energy and IRENA held the first two-week country training course to further familiarize the national working team.
In the framework of the implementation of the West Africa Clean Energy Corridor (WACEC), which was validated, adopted and endorsed by the countries of the West Africa region in 2016 – 2017, IRENA has launched a capacity building programme in the region in collaboration with relevant stakeholders of the ECOWAS power sector (ECREEE, WAPP, ERERA and GIZ).
Under the framework of Global Geothermal Alliance (GGA) – IRENA, the International Geothermal Association (IGA) and the World Bank co-organised a series of technical sessions with the Geological Surveys of the Caribbean Islands States, and other local stakeholders in the geothermal sector in the region.
