The session aimed at providing policymakers and urban energy planners with an understanding of the policy options, technical solutions, and examples that can support the development of the renewable energy sector at a city-level.
This high-level event hosted by United Nations Group of Friends of Sustainable Energy (Norway, Denmark, Ethiopia and Pakistan) and supported by SDG 7 custodians agencies, will present findings of the report as well as of the Policy Briefs by the SDG 7 Technical Advisory Group.
The report analyses the current renewable energy finance and policy landscape in the Republic of North Macedonia, identifies specific barriers and associated risks which can hold back private-sector investment in renewable energy, and provides recommendations on policy frameworks and financial de-risking instruments to scale up renewable energy investments.

Following a presentation on the findings of the IRENA Coalition for Action white paper Stimulating Investment in Community Energy, a panel discussion was held to discuss how policies can be designed to value citizen participation, current experiences in the implementation of financing instruments to support community energy, and examples of initiatives that have successfully mobilized financing to deploy renewable energy projects benefitting citizens and communities. This virtual event featured the official launch of the RRA El Salvador. The event served as a platform to highlight a number of important topics relevant to renewable energy development in El Salvador amongst government officials, partners and other stakeholders to promote the implementation of the recommendations made in the RRA report. The session built on the insights from IRENA’s analysis, including the linkage between the set of five key thematic areas to be carried out beyond the RRA and the enhancement of El Salvador’s nationally determined contributions (NDCs).
