The International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) launched a new initiative, the IRENA NewGen Renewable Energy Accelerator (NewGen), to support young entrepreneurs and innovators in driving the renewable energy transition.
This edition of the IRENA Youth Talk aims at fostering greater collaboration, generating new ideas and solutions, and empowering young people to take action towards a more sustainable and just energy future.
A group of seven young advisers has been selected to provide the UN with the youth perspective on climate action. The board of young activists will advise the United Nations on climate action and policies - underlining the role of young people in tackling the climate crisis head-on.
At its annual Youth Forum, IRENA offered a platform for a dialogue between youth and global pioneers. The Forum brought together 140 young people from 50 countries and diverse backgrounds under the theme “Empowering Youth to Lead an Equitable Energy Transition for a Sustainable Future”.
IRENA Global Council on Enabling Youth Action for SDG 7 brings together 18 young leaders, government representatives, expert practitioners and delegates from different institutions and regions, to develop and adopt an action plan with concrete initiatives that can drive forward youth-led action on energy access and the transition to a renewable energy future.
