To inform policy making, IRENA provides state-of-the-art analysis of enabling policy frameworks and finance mechanisms, spanning the entire renewable energy development cycle. The analysis formed the basis for the discussions at the IRENA Policy Day
Joint International Conference organized by the State Agency on Energy Efficiency and Energy Savings of Ukraine and co-hosted by IRENA, took place on 21 February 2019 in Kyiv. The event brought together representatives of the governmental authorities, parliament, international organizations, as well as financial and business sectors, to contribute to the ongoing efforts to create an auctions-based support scheme for renewable energy in Ukraine.
The event enhanced networking opportunities for Caribbean Renewable Energy Forum participants, promoted exploratory discussions between developers and financiers, introduced opportunities to access IRENA platforms and services, and project financing discussions will be taken further from the event.
The Latin America Energy Forum (LAEF) addressed the needs of the evolving Latin America energy sector and discussed investment opportunities for energy project in the region. The unique economic, political and environmental characteristics of each Latin America country, unveils different investment landscapes across the region with massive business potential. As the market continues to move in a fast pace, financing strategies must also adapt to secure market presence while maximising returns.
This side-event at the Global SDG 7 Conference in Bangkok, marked the regional launch of IRENA's Southeast Asia Market Analysis, and presented its findings. A panel discussed measures to scale renewable energy deployment to meet national and regional goals, and targets associated with SDG 7.
In partnership with the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) held Global Green Growth Week 2017 from 17 to 20 October in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. On the side-lines of the event, IRENA hosted a roundtable discussion for experts on the Agency’s research and survey findings regarding the mobilisation of institutional capital.
