The West Africa Investment Forum 2022 & 6th IOREC (Postponed)
The event has been postponed until further notice.
The International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), the ECOWAS Center for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE), with support from Government of Nigeria are organising the International Energy Transition Week Nigeria (IETW Nigeria) from 31 October – 4 November 2022 in Abuja, Nigeria.
Three key events are to be held under the aegis of IETW Nigeria: IRENA will host the West Africa Investment Forum (WAIF) and the 6th edition of the International Off-grid Renewable Energy Conference and Exhibition (IOREC). ECREEE will host the 7th ECOWAS Sustainable Energy Forum (ESEF).
The West Africa Investment Forum 2022 is co-hosted by IRENA and the Government of Nigeria, in partnership with the African Development Bank and ECOWAS, through the ECREEE on 31st October and 2nd November.
The IRENA Investment Forums are the key to the Agency’s strategy to support the mobilisation of investments in energy transitions. The Forum will bring together members of the financial community, development partners and other relevant stakeholders to drive energy transition investments, with particular emphasis on the West Africa region. The Investment Forum aims to strengthen the ability of decision-makers to foster a strong enabling environment for energy transition-related investments as well as helping developers prepare bankable projects and access finance more easily.
The forum will provide a matchmaking session for financiers and project developers to meet and discuss renewable energy investment opportunities, as well as showcase the financial offerings of the financial institutions.
The 6th edition of the International Off-grid Renewable Energy Conference and Exhibition (IOREC) will be convened in Abuja, Nigeria on 3rd and 4th November 2022. IOREC is convened every two years, with the first five editions of the event taking place in Accra, Ghana in 2012, followed by Manila, Philippines in 2014, Nairobi, Kenya in 2016, Singapore in 2018 and virtually due to Covid-19 pandemic in 2021. A flagship off-grid event, the 6th IOREC brings together a wide spectrum of subject experts of the off-grid renewable energy sector – policy-makers, rural electrification agencies, private sector including social enterprises working at the grass roots, NGOs, academia, financing institutions and think-tanks.
Over the two-day event, the delegates will deliberate on enabling policies & regulations, financing schemes, innovative business models and technology applications to drive energy access. Furthermore, exhibitors, innovators, practitioners and entrepreneurs from the off-grid renewable energy space will have the opportunity to present their products and services at the exhibition that will be organised and managed with support from Alliance for Rural Electrification (ARE).
