This Expert Consultation Workshop was jointly organised by the Vice Ministry of Mines and Energy of Paraguay and IRENA on 2 and 3 February 2021. The Workshop brought together renewable energy stakeholders to discuss challenges and opportunities for the development of renewables in the country.
As part of the technical support provided under IRENA’s Clean Energy Corridor of Central America (CECCA) initiative, the Agency held a training, in partnership with GIZ and in collaboration with the Regional Operator Entity (EOR) of Central America, for national power system operators and officials in the region.
IRENA provided a training on the IRENA FlexTool to all the interested stakeholders from the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.
The meeting aimed to raise awareness amongst Members on the most pressing issues to be addressed to accelerate the global deployment of offshore renewables.
Within the framework of the PACE Initiative, IRENA with its partners has organised a two day capacity building workshop to follow up on the high-priority issues identified by regional participants in the 2019 IRENA AVRIL workshop and its summary report.
The event will present the main takeaways of the REmap Central America study and discuss with countries their experience and possible actions to scale renewable electricity generation, electricity grid integration, electrification of transport and modern cooking technologies.

The joint webinar was an occasion to launch IRENA and Methanol Institute's joint report, Innovation Outlook: Renewable Methanol. Speakers discussed the transition of fossil fuel-based to renewable-based methanol.
The Forum convened parliamentary leaders from across the world to discuss global, regional and local agendas relating to a renewables-based energy transition and served as a platform for substantive dialogue amongst legislators and renewable energy experts on the acceleration of the deployment of renewables.
