Europe
Europe has an abundance of renewable energy sources, and its countries in recent years have become leaders in driving the deployment of renewable technologies. Efforts to increase the sustainability of energy systems in Europe are ongoing, with renewable energy targets set for all European countries and the goal of the European Union (EU) members to become “the world number one in renewables”, according to European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker.

Africa
Africa’s rapid economic expansion creates a daunting energy challenge, combined with rising expectations of improved resilience and sustainability. Finding a sustainable way to meet growing energy needs is one of the core development challenges for the continent. Africa is rich in renewable energy sources, including hydro, sun, wind and others, and the time is right for sound planning to ensure the right energy mix. Decisions made today will shape the continent’s energy sector for decades.

Middle East and North Africa
The energy transition towards renewables is well under way in the Middle East and North Africa. The region has advanced and ambitious energy investment and diversification plans in place, driven by the need to meet growing energy demand, promote economic growth, maximise socioeconomic benefits and meet decarbonisation objectives. Ambitions differ among countries, as do market size and readiness, but the overall picture is one of dynamism.

Mobility segment kit
The mobility segment kit covers both personal vehicles and fleets. Personal vehicles are parked most of the time. Fleets are usually parked much less than personal vehicles (Table 2.6), but when an entire fleet is parked and plugged in, the battery capacity available to the power grid is much higher.

Procurement
The core principle underlying the Agency’s procurement process is to obtain the “best value for money”. Obtaining the 'best value for money' means selection of an offer which presents the optimum combination of life-cycle costs and benefits, and meets the business unit’s requirements. Best value for money should not be confused with the lowest price option. Rather, it requires an integrated assessment of technical, organisational and pricing factors and considering their relative importance. For example, reliability, quality, experience, reputation, past performance, realistic costs/fees and reasonableness.
