Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Fander Falconí Benítez signed the Statute on 18 June 2009

Dr. Fander Falconí Benítez, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Ecuador, signed IRENA´s Founding Treaty at the German Federal Foreign Office in Berlin. The Federal Minister for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety, Mr. Sigmar Gabriel, and the Director General for Latin American Affairs at the Federal Foreign Office, Ambassador Dr. Gerhard Enver Schrömbgens, were present for the signing. The Republic of Ecuador has thereby become the 10th Latin American Signatory and the 99th Member State of IRENA.
