The ASEAN Ministers and IRENA signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to support the realisation of the ASEAN Plan of Action for Energy Cooperation (APAEC) and to facilitate the scaling up of renewable energy deployment in the region. As one of the key areas of focus under the MoU, this workshop will improve the understanding of the renewable energy project financing and risk mitigation instruments as well as to support the development of bankable renewable energy projects and facilitate their access to financing.
The 10 countries included in the regional initiative are: Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam. Accordingly, this regional workshop on renewable energy financing and risk mitigation will also introduce IRENA’s Project Facilitation tools such as Project Navigator, Sustainable Energy Market Place, Global Atlas, etc., that is a free comprehensive platform that provides the tools to facilitate the creation of robust, bankable renewable energy project proposals.
