Joint workshop by the International Renewable Energy Agency and the State Grid Corporation of China.

This Expert Consultation Workshop was jointly organised by the Vice Ministry of Mines and Energy of Paraguay and IRENA on 2 and 3 February 2021. The Workshop brought together renewable energy stakeholders to discuss challenges and opportunities for the development of renewables in the country.

As part of the technical support provided under IRENA’s Clean Energy Corridor of Central America (CECCA) initiative, the Agency held a training, in partnership with GIZ and in collaboration with the Regional Operator Entity (EOR) of Central America, for national power system operators and officials in the region.

IRENA provided a training on the IRENA FlexTool to all the interested stakeholders from the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.

The meeting aimed to raise awareness amongst Members on the most pressing issues to be addressed to accelerate the global deployment of offshore renewables.

Within the framework of the PACE Initiative, IRENA with its partners has organised a two day capacity building workshop to follow up on the high-priority issues identified by regional participants in the 2019 IRENA AVRIL workshop and its summary report.

The event will present the main takeaways of the REmap Central America study and discuss with countries their experience and possible actions to scale renewable electricity generation, electricity grid integration, electrification of transport and modern cooking technologies. 

The programme aims to build and enhance capacity for long-term energy planning in seven CAPP countries able to participate: Angola, Burundi, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Democratic Republic of Congo, Gabon, and Rwanda.

The eleventh session of the Assembly took place on 18 and 21 January 2021 in a virtual setting. The Assembly is the Agency’s supreme decision-making body.

The joint webinar was an occasion to launch IRENA and Methanol Institute's joint report, Innovation Outlook: Renewable Methanol. Speakers discussed the transition of fossil fuel-based to renewable-based methanol.

The Forum convened parliamentary leaders from across the world to discuss global, regional and local agendas relating to a renewables-based energy transition and served as a platform for substantive dialogue amongst legislators and renewable energy experts on the acceleration of the deployment of renewables.

The workshop was organized by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy (MIE) of Albania in partnership with the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA). The agency presented the key findings of the CESEC REmap study relevant to Albania.

The fourth edition of IRENA’s annual pre-Assembly Public-Private Dialogue took place virtually on 14 January 2021 (15:00 to 18:00 Gulf Standard Time) on the sidelines of the Eleventh Session of the IRENA Assembly. 

The IRENA FlexTool training for Latin America, offered basic training on the IRENA FlexTool in the context of ongoing projects in the region. Training was for all the interested stakeholders from the Latin American region.

The International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) organised the second edition of the IRENA Youth Forum: The New Generation of Decision Makers, which took place on 14 January 2021 at the margins of the eleventh session of the IRENA Assembly.

In partnership with the Central Africa Power Pool (CAPP), IRENA will deliver a regional training on energy model analysis and planning to CAPP countries over the course of 6 months.

The Global Atlas for Renewable Energy is a tool for initial prospecting of renewable energy opportunities. Global Atlas 3.0 will enhance user experience with its new functions and enhancements. 

With the support of IRENA, the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy (MIE) of the Republic of Albania is undertaking a Renewable Readiness Assessment (RRA) for Albania.

The training for Eastern Europe and Central Asia, provided a basic training on the IRENA FlexTool in the context of the ongoing initiatives in this region.

This event sought to identify strategies that minimise any potential risk for the electricity system while maximising the benefits for the road freight and renewable power sectors.

The 12th session of the IRENA Assembly took place in a virtual setting from 15 to 16 January 2022 in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, with related stakeholder and ministerial meetings held on 13 and 14 January 2022.
