Accessible Finance for Renewable Energy in developing countries

Since 2014, the IRENA/ADFD Project Facility has implemented five funding cycles, resulting in the allocation of USD 214 million in ADFD loans to 21 projects in 20 different developing countries. The projects selected have the potential to significantly transform the lives of over 3.5 million people and alleviate poverty by bringing affordable energy to low-income communities. Solar PV rooftop projects were selected in Mauritius and Rwanda in the fifth round of funding, announced at the Eighth Session of the IRENA Assembly on January 13, 2018.
