Chad Energy Transition Assessment: Expert Validation Workshop
The International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), in collaboration with the Ministry of Water and Energy of Chad, organised a virtual Validation Workshop for Chad's Energy Transition Assessment (ETA) from 27-28 May 2025. This workshop marked a key milestone in the ETA process for Chad.
The comprehensive assessment evolved from an initial Renewable Readiness Assessment (RRA) to the more holistic ETA and is a flagship IRENA tool designed to facilitate a country-led, multi-stakeholder process. It provides a thorough assessment of the key conditions necessary for the deployment of renewable energy and the acceleration of a country's energy transition. The ETA also proposes tailored short- and medium-term action plans and recommendations to overcome identified obstacles and foster enabling environments.
The virtual validation workshop aimed to present key findings from the draft ETA report for Chad, obtain stakeholder validation, and collaboratively review and prioritise strategic actions. The active participation and consensus of key stakeholders during this workshop were crucial in shaping a robust and actionable final ETA report, tailored to guide Chad's efforts in harnessing its renewable energy potential and achieving its broader climate and sustainable development goals.
Participation in this event was by invitation only.
