Meeting of the Collaborative Framework on Just and Inclusive Energy Transitions: Consultation on Country Priorities
Just and inclusive energy transitions remain at the forefront of international energy discussions. Over the past decade the international community has increasingly grappled with questions over the scope of just energy transitions and how to translate collective ambitions to ensure equity and inclusion as part of the transition into policy and cooperation efforts.
IRENA's extensive data and analysis continue to explore the interplay between national, regional, and global approaches to just transitions. Key topics include job creation, job quality, reskilling and upskilling, livelihoods, electricity access and clean cooking, community energy and engagement, inclusion of women, youth and other vulnerable groups and local value creation as well as financing to support just energy transition efforts. Dedicated initiatives, such as the Energy Transition Education Network (ETEN) and Empowering Lives and Livelihoods, further complement these efforts.
The Collaborative Framework on Just and Inclusive Energy Transitions has offered a platform for Members to shape IRENA’s work in this area. Through peer-to-peer exchanges and multi-stakeholder dialogues, the framework has brought together governments, labor organizations, and employers to explore key issues such as workforce development and social inclusion.
As the discourse on just transitions rapidly evolves, this virtual meeting provides a timely opportunity to reflect on IRENA’s progress and set future priorities for the Collaborative Framework. IRENA Members are invited to share their experiences and considerations in fostering just energy transitions. The meeting will also include the appointment of Co-Facilitators for the Collaborative Framework for the next two-year term.
This meeting is only open to IRENA Members.
