Fifth Meeting of the Collaborative Framework on Project Facilitation

During the meeting, the IRENA Secretariat will provide an update on the progress of its two main project facilitation initiatives: the Climate Investment Platform (CIP) and the Energy Transition Accelerator Financing (ETAF) Platform. These Platforms work together to streamline and expedite financing for renewable energy projects. Under the CIP, five renewable energy projects have reached financial closure totaling 65 MWs and changing 4 million homes, while under the ETAF Platform, following its launch at COP27, three projects achieved financial closure, amounting to 900 MWs and changing 1 million homes.

IRENA’s primary goal in project facilitation is to assist its Members in implementing their Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) by promoting the mobilisation of finance towards renewable energy projects through CIP and ETAF . Members could significantly benefit from the outcomes of IRENA’s project facilitation work by directing ongoing renewable energy projects within their countries toward these Platforms.

The Fifth Collaborative Framework meeting will be held in a hybrid format, a day before the IRENA 28th Council meeting. Representatives from IRENA Member States will gather in person at the Sun and Energy meeting room in the IRENA headquarters before the 28th Council session. Meanwhile, other participants will have the option to connect virtually. The objective of the meeting is to establish a technical-level collaboration between IRENA and government offices and institutions responsible for implementing renewable energy projects within their respective countries, aiming to further enhance Members' understanding and utilization of IRENA's project facilitation tools. Creating a direct line of communication at the technical level will increase the attractiveness of the Agency’s platforms to facilitate more financing opportunities for Members’ project pipelines.

By invitation only.
