REmap country launch: China
China’s role is crucial in efforts to double the share of renewable energy in the global energy mix by 2030 – a key target to reduce global warming and ensure a sustainable energy future. The International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) launched Renewable Energy Prospects: China, the first country-specific analysis in the “REmap 2030” series, in Beijing on 24 November.
The report, part of IRENA’s global roadmap, REmap 2030, was prepared through a collaborative effort with the China National Renewable Energy Centre (CNREC). The joint launch event also included a presentation by IRENA’s Director-General, Adnan Z. Amin, on the first edition of the agency’s flagship report REthinking Energy, as well as CNREC energy outlook studies and a panel discussion.
