At the request of the Ministry of Environment and Energy, IRENA has developed a roadmap to assist in accelerating deployment of renewable energy in the Maldives.
The roadmap is based on an extensive review of existing studies along with IRENA-developed quantitative analysis for some specific islands. The roadmap identifies the key barriers to renewable energy deployment in the Maldives and makes specific recommendations for overcoming these barriers.
The overall objective of the roadmap is to assist the Maldives in identifying optimal pathways for deploying a high share of renewable energy.
