Meeting of CEEAC-ECCAS Energy Ministers for the promotion of Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency

Upon the request from the Commission of the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS), the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) are supporting the Member States in the enhancement of regional capacities to establish a vibrant common market for renewable energy and energy efficiency product and services. IRENA has been supporting the region in drawing up a Regional Renewable Roadmap to define the actions to be carried out to promote renewable energy, which was validated at technical level by experts from the Ministries of Energy and Environment from the region. UNIDO is supporting ECCAS in the establishment of the Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency for Central Africa (CEREEAC).

The overall objective of the meeting is to obtain the validation of (i) the Ministers in charge of Energy of each ECCAS Member States of the Renewable Energy Roadmap for Central Africa as well as (ii) the baseline, needs assessment, project document and the selection process and criteria of the host country of the CEREEAC. The meeting will be held in 2 segments, with the Experts Meeting on 1-3 June 2021 and the Ministerial Meeting on 28 April 2021. This is a closed meeting and can be accessed by invitation only.
