Advancing the Energy Transition in Africa through Nationally Determined Contributions

This virtual event aimed at:

• encouraging more ambitious climate action by all governments in Africa, including the submission of updated NDCs and long-term climate/energy strategies in support of the goals set out in the Paris Agreement;
• sharing regional experience on the domestic energy systems transformation required to achieve the GHG reduction targets set by NDCs of African countries;
• deepening the understanding on the opportunities offered by the energy sector in the decarbonization efforts; and
• broadening the knowledge and understanding of the role of NDCs in achieving the long-term goals of the Paris Agreement, including, the opportunities to maximize the socioeconomic benefits of the energy transition.
