REmap China report launch

China’s role is crucial for the share of renewable energy in the global energy mix to double by 2030, a key target in order to avoid catastrophic global warming and ensure a sustainable energy future. A new REmap country report, Renewable Energy Prospects: China, was launched in Beijing on 24 November.

The report was prepared through a collaborative effort between IRENA and the China National Renewable Energy Centre (CNREC). The report – part of IRENA’s global roadmap, REmap 2030 – discusses the policy framework and analyses the potential, cost and benefits of realisable deployment of renewables by 2030.

IRENA and CNREC jointly organised the launch event, which also included a presentation by IRENA’s Director-General on the first edition of the flagship report REthinking Energy, as well as CNREC energy outlook studies and a panel discussion.
