The IRENA Coalition for Action launched a white paper "Sector coupling: a key concept for accelerating the energy transition".

The IRENA Coalition for Action’s ‘Renewables in Agriculture’ Working Group convened a virtual knowledge exchange on Scaling-Up Renewables for Agri-Food Systems: Opportunities and Challenges.

The sixth Coalition for Action Annual Strategy Meeting took place virtually in conjunction with the 12th Session of the IRENA Assembly.

The Coalition for Action Mid-Year Strategy Meeting 2021 convened Coalition members to strategically discuss the Coalition’s work to date, planned activities for COP26, and upcoming outputs and deliverables.

This webinar gathered public and private sector stakeholders to discuss key opportunities and challenges faced by companies setting and implementing corporate renewable energy heating and cooling targets, including how policies can be designed to effectively encourage the use of renewable heating and cooling in industry.

The meeting convened Coalition members to strategically discuss how the work of the Coalition can build on the success of 2020. Members also discussed the Coalition work programme for 2021 and main action deliverables. 

The fourth IRENA Policy Talk focused on citizen-led renewable energy projects – commonly referred to as “community energy” – and their potential to support an inclusive energy transition. Following a presentation on the findings of the IRENA Coalition for Action white paper Stimulating Investment in Community Energy, a panel discussion was held to discuss how policies can be designed to value citizen participation, current experiences in the implementation of financing instruments to support community energy, and examples of initiatives that have successfully mobilized financing to deploy renewable energy projects benefitting citizens and communities. Comprising two sessions, the Coalition for Action Mid-Year Strategy Meeting convened Coalition members to discuss the ongoing impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on the renewable energy sector and inform preparations for the Coalition for Action 2021 Annual Strategy Meeting.
