A conference to raise awareness among policy makers about the opportunities provided by renewable energy and energy efficiency in providing electricity to rural health centres and strengthening health systems in Africa, to exchange knowledge and practical experiences in resource-scarce environments, and to build a coalition in support of global action on this topic.

IRENA supports the establishment of a regional certification scheme for off-grid solar PV installers in West Africa, to be implemented in all members of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).

An IRENA delegation visited Finland to discuss potential cooperation with Business Finland, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment.  

The Energy Transitions Working Group established the groundwork for policies on key issues such as energy efficiency, renewable energy, access to affordable energy in Latin America and the Caribbean, the reduction of inefficient subsidies on fossil fuels, making information on energy transparent, and the digitalisation of energy markets.
