The countries of the Mano River Union (MRU) region, comprising Côte d’Ivoire, Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone, are increasingly faced with the need to devise inclusive and resilient growth trajectories. Access to sufficient, reliable and affordable energy is fundamental for the region to meet its socio-economic development goals.

For the full potential of renewables to be realised, a number of deliberate actions need to be undertaken at both the regional and national levels. Renewable energy market analysis: Mano River Union region assesses the policy and investment framework guiding renewables deployment in the region and presents a range of recommendations and actions needed for countries to meet their national targets and goals.

The report has been developed as part of IRENA’s regional engagement in the African continent and advances the Memorandum of Understanding signed with the MRU Secretariat in 2022.
