Renewable Energy as THE Solution

Global leaders from more than 150 countries gathered in Abu Dhabi last month to set the global renewable energy agenda and make concrete steps to accelerate the ongoing global energy transition. While opinions varied on the exact trajectory of this course, delegates universally agreed that renewable energy is the solution: the solution to climate change; the solution to energy access; the solution to sustainable economic growth and social prosperity; the solution to air pollution and other health issues; and the solution for job growth.

As a part of the Assembly, delegates approved the IRENA 2016-2017 work plan to support and speed the global energy transition and noted the accomplishments of the Agency over the past two years.
