Standards for renewables to be discussed in expert webinar

Newsletter

The International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) will present the findings from its recently published study of standards for renewables during a webinar organised by the Clean Energy Solutions Center on 14 May. The study, “International Standardisation in the Field of Renewable Energy”, identifies over 570 standards in the current renewable energy technology (RET) landscape, yet also finds gaps, particularly for post-installation aspects such as operation, maintenance and repair.

Francisco Boshell, IRENA’s analyst for RE technology, standards and markets, will give the presentation.

The no-cost online webinar will also feature the work of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) on renewable energy standards, in the context of sustainable energy standards for rural electrification. The IEC recently announced its commitment to the UN Secretary General’s Sustainable Energy for All (SE4ALL) initiative, which IRENA strongly supports.

The discussion, entitled “IEC’s Discount Packages to Access Sustainable Energy Standards for Rural Electrification”, is scheduled for 3.30pm – 5.00pm (CEST) on 14 May 2013.
