Role of renewable energy highlighted at Smart Community Summit 2012

The New Energy and Industrial Technology Development (NEDO) and Japan Smart Community Alliance (JSCA) co-organised the "Smart Community Summit 2012" on 30 May in Tokyo. This Summit was held as a side event of the “Smart Grid Exhibition 2012”. IRENA participated in the panel with a discussion entitled “Role of renewable energy in the smart community”. This session served as a platform for the discussion of ways to overcome energy constraints in developing and developed countries through the utilization of smart communities. During the discussion IRENA highlighted the important role that renewable energy will play in enabling the development of smart communities.
