From January 17-20, 2011 Abu Dhabi hosted the World Future Energy Summit. In his opening remarks, Adnan Amin, Interim Director-General of IRENA, paid tribute to the foresight and vision of the UAE, IRENA’s host country, in creating this forum that brings together the principal actors from all over the world to foster debate, create awareness, and catalyze action that can help guide to the path of sustainable, secure and prosperous future.

IRENA’s presence at WFES offered an opportunity to interact with world leaders, policy makers, industry and civil society representatives. Many visitors gathered around IRENA’s booth where they could also find a “Renewable Corner” with the representatives of REN21, REEEP and IISD.

A number of dignitaries and participants used this opportunity to visit IRENA’s headquarters and discuss the issues related to the work of the Agency.
