Post-Summit Webinars on the Global Coalition for Energy Planning (GCEP)

The Global Coalition for Energy Planning (GCEP), an initiative championed during the Brazilian G20 Presidency in 2024, was launched in June 2025 at the 1st Energy Planning Summit in Rio de Janeiro. This voluntary initiative provides a platform for collaboration, knowledge exchange, and capacity building, particularly in developing countries. Its core purpose is to bridge the gap between energy planning and finance, helping countries create the enabling environments needed to attract investment for just and inclusive energy transitions.
To continue this momentum, IRENA organised two post-Summit webinars on 30 September and 1 October. These sessions provided an update on the Summit’s outcomes and the feedback gathered through the GCEP consultation process. Participants heard about the resulting framework, priorities, and operational workstreams of the Coalition, as well as pathways for engagement, membership guidance and the roadmap for GCEP’s first biennium.
