Pre-COP30 High-level event: Tracking Global Target of Tripling Renewables and Doubling Energy Efficiency – Report Launch
Co-hosted by COP30 Presidency of Brazil and IRENA
The tripling of installed renewable power generation capacity by 2030 is a critical milestone for keeping the 1.5°C temperature goal of the Paris Agreement within reach. Following the historic outcome of the first Global Stocktake to triple global renewable energy capacity and double energy efficiency by 2030, the COP28 Presidency has designated the IRENA as the official custodian of an annual report series tracking global progress toward these global energy goals. /p>
The report series is led by IRENA and published annually till 2030, providing the latest monitoring data and projections each year in relation to these defining targets established at COP28, serving policymakers as key input to future COP engagements.
Ahead of COP30 in Belem, IRENA, the Global Renewable Alliance (GRA) and the Brazilian Presidency of COP30 will launch the second edition of Delivering on the UAE Consensus: Tracking Progress towards tripling renewable energy capacity and doubling energy efficiency by 2030 during pre-COP taking place from 13-14 October.
The event attendance is by invitation only.
