Meeting of the Collaborative Framework on Just and Inclusive Energy Transitions: Knowledge Exchange on Tools and Policies for Just Energy Transition Planning
Sustainable and affordable energy is critical to economic and social prosperity. Technological advances have opened new avenues for powering modern societies, which can offer a range of co-benefits from job and local value creation to economic diversification, community empowerment, green (re)industrialisation and improved energy security. Yet, realising these benefits of the energy transition and ensuring they are equitably distributed requires coordinated, targeted and inclusive action at the international, local and international levels including proactive just energy transition planning.
The virtual meeting provided a platform for a knowledge exchange on practical tools, policy instruments and governance arrangements that can inform government efforts on planning and policy design for just energy transitions.
While the main focus was sharing experiences, the meeting also considered priorities for international cooperation in this space, including gaps in current analysis and country support as well as insights on capacity-building needs to inform future activities of the framework.
This meeting was by invitation only.
