IRENA at the Berlin Energy Transition Dialogue 2025
From 17 to 19 March, stakeholders from the energy sector will gather for the Berlin Energy Transition Dialogue (BETD) to advance the energy transition and tackle its most pressing challenges.
BETD 2025 gathers high-level officials, business leaders, scientists, and NGO representatives to share ideas on urgent energy challenges and form partnerships for a secure, affordable, and sustainable global energy transition.
This year, IRENA will dynamically engage with all stakeholders and remain committed to supporting countries on their energy transition journey, recognising that only unified, focused, and coordinated global action can achieve the goal of tripling renewable energy capacity by 2030 and limiting warming to 1.5°C.
IRENA will participate in a number of events, including among others:
- BETD Side event: Green Skills for a Just Energy Transition: Strengthening Global Cooperation to Prepare the Workforce for a Sustainable Future
- Roundtable 1: Accelerated Partnership for Renewables in Africa (APRA) and Green Guarantee Group (GGG)
(Closed Door Event)
This roundtable explores unlocking renewable energy investments through private and public finance, blended finance, and risk mitigation tools. It reviews de-risking strategies and instruments used in APRA partner countries, with a special focus on green guarantees and the Green Guarantee Group’s role in mobilising private capital. Participants will identify ways to bolster APRA’s strategy, design partner instruments, and implement measures to support project pipelines across African countries.
Co-hosted by IRENA and the Germany Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), this session brings together key stakeholders to discuss how international cooperation can drive action and increase investments in jobs and skills for the energy transition. Developing workforce skills is a critical, though often underappreciated, driver of the green transition. This session examines how partnering the Global Initiative on Skills for the Green and Just Economy with the Global Pledge on Skilling for the Energy Transition can help achieve renewable energy targets.
