Virtual Launch – Energy Transition Assessment (ETA) Report for Somalia
The International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), in collaboration with the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources of the Federal Republic of Somalia (MoEWR), will host the virtual launch of the Energy Transition Assessment (ETA) Report for Somalia on 23 June 2025. This event will bring together government officials, national and international stakeholders, development partners, and energy experts to present and discuss the report’s key findings and recommendations. The session will focus on practical steps to accelerate renewable energy deployment and support Somalia’s broader energy transition goals.
The Energy Transition Assessment is a strategic tool developed by IRENA to support countries in identifying enabling conditions for a successful shift to renewable energy. It is built on a country-led, multi-stakeholder process that evaluates current energy systems, institutional readiness, investment needs, and policy frameworks. For Somalia, the ETA highlights specific challenges and opportunities, offering targeted recommendations structured into short- and medium-term actions. These insights aim to guide policymakers and stakeholders in fostering an environment conducive to sustainable energy development and climate action.
