Renewable Energy Roadmap for the Eastern Partnership countries Country Engagement Workshop
IRENA is currently developing a Renewable Energy Roadmap (REmap) analysis for the Eastern Partnership (EaP) countries. This analysis covers the energy landscape of Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine. The study aims to identify opportunities for cost-effective transformation of the energy sector through regional cooperation. The study will also support the EaP countries in the creation of future energy plans to accelerate the deployment of renewable energy across all energy end-use and supply sectors.
The REmap analysis explores the role of end-use sector electrification, direct uses of renewables, (including bioenergy and green hydrogen), energy efficiency solutions, expansion of renewable generation, grid expansion, sector coupling solutions, and battery storage-systems among others. The importance of expanding regional power sector integration is also considered in the analysis.
As part of the project, IRENA, with the support of the European Commission, is organising a one-day consultation workshop with experts from the EaP countries, which will take place online on 24 April 2025. During this event, IRENA will present and consult with the EaP national representatives on the preliminary results from the analysis of the end-use sectors (transport, industry and buildings), and the power sector. Participation in the workshop is via invitation only and will not be open to the general public.
