Policies and measures for green hydrogen deployment in Türkiye

The online workshop titled “Policies and measures for green hydrogen deployment in Türkiye” will be organized by the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) in cooperation with Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources of Türkiye. The workshop will be held on the 11th of December 2024 between 9.30 – 16.30 (Ankara time).

IRENA analysis suggests that most end uses of energy can be electrified, using renewable electricity to facilitate the energy transition globally. However, there is a need for solutions to close the decarbonisation gap for applications where the direct use of renewable electricity or fuels is not a technically viable or cost-effective solution. Green hydrogen and its derivatives (ammonia, methanol, e-kerosene) can be key complements to renewable electrification. They will offer a solution to decarbonise some applications in heavy industry, shipping, aviation, and seasonal storage, among others. The development of the green hydrogen sector promises opportunities for green industrialisation, reducing carbon dioxide emissions while advancing job creation.

This workshop aims to provide an overview of green hydrogen-related policy priorities, technology trends, and innovation needs for a range of relevant stakeholders in Türkiye.

The webinar is by invitation only. The workshop will bring together a wide array of relevant stakeholders for hydrogen in Türkiye, including government officials, energy regulators and planners, energy experts, and the private sector.
