IRENA – Latin America Energy Transition Investment Forum

The Government of Uruguay and the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) hosted the Latin American Energy Transition Investment Forum in Montevideo, Uruguay on 8-9 November, 2023, as part of the OLADE Energy Week. The Forum brought together regional and global decision-makers from the public and private sectors, including governments, financial community, development partners and other relevant stakeholders needed to drive energy transition investments.

Along with high-level discussions on topics relevant to Latin America, such as enabling frameworks for financing the energy transition and innovative financing instruments for climate projects, the forum included dedicated sessions to explore ground-level challenges faced by developers and financiers in the region that hinders the creation of a bankable pipeline of projects and the expansion of capital mobilization. This paved the ground for productive matchmaking sessions to help public and private project proponents connect with potential commercial and financial partners.

During the Forum, a dedicated, closed-doors space was available for bilateral discussions between financiers and project proponents to facilitate the advancement of project development to the next level. Additionally, there was an exhibition area to highlight additional projects from the region and to offer the opportunity to network with a diverse group of stakeholders who aimed to advance the energy transition.

Finance training sessions were held as part of the Investment Forum on 7 November.

The event was by invitation only. Should you have any questions, please contact Mr. José Torón (jtoron@irena.org) or Mr. Camilo Ramirez (cramirezisaza@irena.org).
