International Forum on Quality in the Photovoltaic Sector in India
Considering the rapidly growing demand for high quality products and services in Solar PV in India, IRENA together with the National Metrology Institute of Germany (PTB) will organise a forum with the objective of defining measures to effectively foster the quality infrastructure framework conditions and services required in the photovoltaic sector. This forum will be carried out with the collaboration of India's Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) and the National Institute of Solar Energy (NISE).
The International Forum on Quality in the Photovoltaic Sector in India will facilitate an exchange of experiences and good practices between local and international experts and practitioners. The forum will identify the existing gaps and challenges in the field of the so-called quality infrastructure (metrology, testing, standardisation, certification, inspection, accreditation) with the aim to effectively support the development of a robust and expanding PV market in India that is based on a sound quality of products and services.
Additionally, the forum aims to create an international collaborative network between the PV sector and organisations of the national quality infrastructure. The gathering will actively engage policy makers and regulators to support the development of the required framework conditions and the inclusion of quality requirements in policies, regulations, tender documents, technical specifications.
