2019 Climate Summit Strategy retreat

The 2019 Climate Summit of the Secretary-General, held on the margins of the 74th General Assembly, aims to increase the ambition of climate commitments, and to scale-up and accelerate climate action to achieve the goals of the Paris Agreement.

In this connection, the Deputy Secretary-General will convene a retreat to further define the thematic focus of the 2019 Climate Summit, which will take place on 5 and 6 April 2018 at the Greentree Foundation in New York.

The purpose of this informal strategy session will be to create a space in building a common understanding of what is meant by enhanced ambition towards the objectives and goals of the Paris Agreement. The retreat will focus on identifying deliverables and milestones which should be achieved so that all parties to the Paris Agreement reach by 2020 higher ambitious commitments and accelerated action.
