MENA Renewable Energy Statistics Training
From 20 to 22 February 2017, IRENA held a three-day technical training on renewable energy statistics for statisticians from the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) Region. The training aimed to improve the availability of reliable information about renewable energy through a combination of technical lectures by experts from IRENA, the International Energy Agency, the Regional Center for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency and the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia. It also included practical exercises and presentations by participants on country practices. Key topics covered during the training included: the classification and structure of renewable energy statistics; the construction of energy balances; strategies and methods for renewable energy data collection; data validation and estimation; and data dissemination.
