Isolated Power Systems Connect 2016 – International technology Forum for System Operators and Owners

This 5 day technical event was organized by Hydro Tasmania and The University of Tasmania. IRENA held a presentation on ‘Planning the operation of grids in small island developing states’, participated in a Pacific Island Forum and sponsored the participation of five engineers from power utilities of Member Countries from the Pacific Islands.

The event was composed of a 2 day capacity building training on RE Project Planning and Implementation for Small Isolated Systems, a networking day and a 2 day technical conference on latest developments of small isolated systems. A visit to Hydro Tasmania’s Flinders island hybrid system, which can operate with 100% renewable energies was part of the program, also took place.
