Training workshop for Ministry of Energy & Mineral Resources of Djibouti
As follow up to the Renewable Readiness Assessment facilitated in Djibouti in May 2015, the country decided to implemented a number of the recommendations including the development of a national Plan for Renewable Energy (PNERDj). IRENA was requested to support this effort by organizing a training on the renewable energy zoning, the Global Atlas and the Project Navigator in order to strengthen local capacities in better understanding the country’s renewable energy potential as well as in developing bankable projects.
The expected outcome includes a comprehensive roadmap for renewable energy deployment in Djibouti for the coming ten years in order to improve the access rate to electricity in both urban and rural areas.
The five day training gathered around 40 participants from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Energy Efficiency Agency, Public Electricity Utility, Environment Department, Geothermal Office, Research & Development Center, Social Development Agency, Private sector developers, National Private sector/NGO associations.
