West Africa Clean Energy Corridor (WACEC) – Solar Component
An action plan for the implementation of the WACEC initiative has been developed and validated, at the technical level, through a stakeholder consultation process with Governments and key regional partners, in April 2016 in Dakar - Senegal. Representatives of IRENA, ECREEE, West African Power Pool (WAPP) and ECOWAS Regional Electricity Regulatory Authority (ERERA), along with European Union Energy Initiative’s Technical Assistance Facility met in Praia Cape Verde on 18-19 August for an inception meeting to kick-start the scoping study for the Solar Component of the WACEC implementation agenda which aims to promote 2GW of Solar by 2030 in West Africa. The meeting was attended by representatives from the following institutions:
