Side-event: Opportunities and Challenges in Transition of Renewable Energy Markets
The International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) held a discussion as part of its fourth annual Assembly on “Opportunities and Challenges in Transition of Renewable Energy Markets”. About 50 participants took part, led by panellists and presenters representing a variety of regions and markets. The side-event in Abu Dhabi on 18 January revealed a broad consensus on conditions and trends in the global market, while underscoring the lack of a one-size-fits-all solution and the need to avoid repeating the same mistakes in emerging markets. Participants agreed that IRENA should facilitate the crucial sharing of information, insights and knowledge, as well as supporting technology adaptation and providing guidance where needed.
