UN Secretary-General’s 2014 Climate Summit

The adoption and use of renewable energy worldwide is one of the critical ways to combat carbon emissions and climate change. At the invitation of the UN Secretary-General, IRENA spearheaded the renewable energy effort at the Climate Summit, putting forward the Africa Clean Energy Corridor and Small Island Developing States (SIDS) Lighthouse Initiative and organising a high-level policy debate on the ‘rethinking’ needed for the energy transition.
