Building Energy Businesses: Knowledge Sharing Workshop for Energy Business Incubators and Entreprene
Business incubators and entrepreneurs from Africa and Asia, as well as international partners, gathered to explore partnerships in enterprise development and knowledge transfer opportunities
The International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) held a week-long knowledge-sharing workshop for energy business incubators and entrepreneurs from Asia and Africa. The programme is anchored by the Centre for Innovation Incubation and Entrepreneurship (CIIE) at Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ahmedabad and SELCO Incubation Centre, two of India’s premier incubator vehicles supporting entrepreneurs in renewable energy and energy access. The workshop, held in Bangalore on 22-27 September, brought together 11 business incubators, 2 renewable energy associations and 10 energy enterprises. The participants came from eight African and Asian countries: Bangladesh, Egypt, India, Kenya, Myanmar, Nepal, Tanzania and Uganda. With a continuing need to upgrade technical information on markets, technology and the associated enabling environment, the partners in the initiative continue working together to attract additional support for regional entrepreneurship development.
