Webinars for REMAP experts and national focal points
The International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) held two webinars, or online discussions, on 13 and 24 September, with national focal points and experts on REMAP 2030 – IRENA’s global roadmap to double the share of renewables in the global energy mix by 2030. The webinars provided detailed information about progress to date, different levels of country engagement, some preliminary findings, and publication and outreach plan. The presentation can be downloaded here, along with the 13 September and 24 September webinar sessions.
REMAP 2030 supports the aims of the Sustainable Energy for All (SE4ALL) initiative launched in 2012, which has set out three interlinked global energy policy objectives to achieve by 2030: 1) ensuring universal access to modern energy services; 2) doubling the global rate of improvement in energy efficiency; and 3) doubling the share of renewable energy in the global energy mix.
IRENA, at the request of its member countries to explore ways to double the share renewables, has designed a transparent, inclusive and open process to develop a global renewable energy roadmap (REMAP 2030), envisaged as a tool to support national-level renewable energy planning and international cooperation. The REMAP project has begun to share this open process with members of the agency through webinars, which are online discussions. REMAP 2030 will also serve as a global compass to coordinate and synthesise renewable energy activities within the context of the SE4ALL initiative.
