Expert Workshop on IRENA’s Global Renewable Energy Roadmap

The International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) organised a two-day expert workshop to discuss key insights from REmap 2030, the global roadmap to double the share of renewables in the energy mix.

By bringing together national experts engaged in the process, the meeting allowed detailed sharing of global, sector and country-level results from REmap’s initial 26 country studies. Based on those country studies, IRENA also shared an overview of existing policy frameworks, as well as barriers to renewable energy deployment. National REmap xperts or focal points from 15 countries took part, including several though webinar participation.

In preparation, IRENA sent a draft of the first REmap 2030 findings to all countries that assigned national experts.

The meeting was divided into four sections: global results; sector results for buildings, industry, power and transport; key results and policy implications for biomass use; and the next steps, including how to translate REmap results into action. Click to view the meeting agenda.

Workshop proceedings are available here.

Based on this feedback, IRENA revised the preliminary results and key messages before releasing the first REmap 2030 summary report in January 2014.
