Webinar: Expanding cost studies and the IRENA Renewable Costing Alliance
The business case for increasing renewable energy investments depends on gathering more – and more accurate – data on the costs and performance of different technologies in various locations around the world. The International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) is hosting webinars in late May on its expanding research into renewable energy costs, with the aim of informing the private sector and advising companies on how to contribute to these studies.

Standards for renewables to be discussed in expert webinar
The International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) will present the findings from its recently published study of standards for renewables during a webinar organised by the Clean Energy Solutions Center on 14 May. The study, “ International Standardisation in the Field of Renewable Energy”, identifies over 570 standards in the current renewable energy technology (RET) landscape, yet also finds gaps, particularly for post-installation aspects such as operation, maintenance and repair.

IRENA Renewable Energy Learning Partnership celebrates first anniversary
This year’s fourth Clean Energy Ministerial (CEM), in New Delhi, India, marks the one-year anniversary of the flagship education and training portal of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA). The IRENA Renewable Energy Learning Partnership (IRELP), launched on 25 April 2012, during the third CEM, in London, UK, has gained global recognition as the one-stop-shop for renewable energy training and education.

Promoting efficient renewable energy integration in the Pacific

IRENA Director-General announced as member of Sustainable Energy for All Advisory Board
IRENA Director-General Adnan Z. Amin participated in the first meeting of the newly formed Advisory Board of the Sustainable Energy for All initiative in Washington, D.C. on 19 April. The group of private and public sector leaders is chaired by UN Secretary-General, Ban Ki-moon, who launched the initiative, and co-chaired by Jim Yong Kim, President of the World Bank.
