IRENA Executive Strategy Workshop on Renewable Energy in South East Europe (RE SEE)

An Executive Strategy Workshop on Renewable Energy in South East Europe was organized by the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) in Abu Dhabi on 12 December 2013. The workshop brought together representatives of government ministries, electric power transmission utilities, regional bodies and research institutions to discuss priorities and strategies for promoting renewable power.  Discussion focused on the national action plans of countries in South East Europe to meet European Union renewable energy targets for 2020, along with strategies for financing renewable power investments and ways to overcome current administrative barriers. Participants also discussed the need to develop transmission grids to support the expanded generation and trade of renewable electricity.
