As per ADFD post selection procedures, an onsite appraisal is being organised by ADFD on the Mauritius 10MW solar PV systems for 10,000 households mini-grid project. The project was selected in the fifth cycle of the IRENA/ADFD Facility in January 2018. Subject to a successful onsite appraisal and approval from the ADFD board, the project can move to the signing of a loan agreement.  IRENA’s role is to support the ADFD onsite appraisal, engage closely with the project proponents to ensure all the elements are in place to ensure smooth implementation of the project and to capture project impacts.

Given the growing interest in West Africa, IRENA initiated the preparatory work to expand the Africa Clean Energy Corridor (ACEC) initiative to West Africa. The expansion will support the region towards energy transition in coordination and collaboration with all relevant stakeholders. As part of the ECOWAS High Level Policy Investment Forum, IRENA held the first consultative workshop on the West Africa Clean Energy Corridor.
